'Live by Request': An interview with legendary singer Julia Fordham

Following her sold out Porcelain 25 tour, legendary singer-songwriter Julia Fordham is back!

Her latest tour will see Julia revisit the Epstein Theatre in Liverpool, a venue that she loved playing previously:

“I played the Epstein Theatre the last time I was in Liverpool and it was truly one of the best shows of the tour. We loved it. We had an amazing day. It’s a very thrilling and exciting experience musically to step foot in Liverpool. You feel it”.

She recalls the concert with fondness, adding that:

“We had this amazing gig with this incredible crowd. It was sold out and it was fantastic. It was a fully charged, highlight of the tour. I loved it and I’m looking forward to going back”.

Including beloved hits including ‘Happy ever after’, ‘I thought it was you’ and ‘(Love moves) in mysterious ways’, each song on Julia’s current tour has been requested by the fans, as she explains:

“Last time the tour was Porcelain 25 - it was twenty-five years since my last album Porcelain. I did the whole album, so this time I thought ‘What can I do that’s different?’ and perhaps interesting for the fans.

We did this thing called ‘The Request’, where I’ve been collecting the most requested songs. I don’t know what I was expecting, but basically all of the songs are ones that have been requested by someone in the UK. Predominantly, the songs are the ones that got the most requests. I found it fascinating because, for example, the most requested song was ‘Manhattan Skyline’, which was my American hit. It wasn’t released in England, although it was on my ‘Best of’ record. That received the most requests”.

Promising an unforgettable night of music on this incredible tour, Julia Fordham’s sensational voice and amazing group of musicians will have you cheering for more.

Julia Fordham will be at the Epstein Theatre, Liverpool on Saturday 19th November 2016.
