News: Two Pence to Cross the Mersey at the Royal Court in 2016

After a successful tour during the Spring of 2015, the stage play version of Helen Forrester’s Two Pence to Cross the Mersey is back in 2016.

Staged by Pulse Records Ltd, in collaboration with Producer and Stage Writer Rob Fennah and Producer Bill Elms, Two Pence to Cross the Mersey will be at the Royal Court Theatre Liverpool for a three week run.

When a young girl and her formerly wealthy family are thrown into poverty in the depression era, they move from South-West England to Liverpool in the hope of rebuilding their lives. However, they are unaware of the events and shock that awaits them…

Directed by Bob Eaton, the stage play version of Helen Forrester’s story has delighted audiences across Liverpool, Southport, St Helens and Wirral. Speaking about the play, Producer and Stage Writer Rob Fennah said:

“I had always visualised Twopence to Cross the Mersey as a straight play and was thrilled when audience and reviewers alike gave the new adaption a big thumbs up. Taking the play to the Royal Court Liverpool will enable even greater numbers of Helen’s readers to come and see her most famous book to come to life on stage”

For those who have not yet seen the play and those who have, Two Pence to Cross the Mersey promises to be one of the theatre highlights of 2016.

The full cast is to be announced and the play will run from Tuesday 20th September – Sunday 8th October 2016.
